James A. Knight Award for Excellence in Humanities in Medicine
This award recognizes academic excellence in humanities in medicine, typically as manifested by superior performance in two or more of the following: the required first- and second-year MHUM courses, one or more first- or second-year MHUM electives, a fourth-year MHUM elective, or non-course-related work in medical humanities.
James A. Knight Award for Leadership in Medicine
This award recognizes excellence in leadership in medicine, typically as manifested by outstanding performance in two or more of the following: the first-year Leadership in medicine (LIM) course, a second-year LIM mentorship, or a fourth-year LIM fellowship. Other evidence of leadership as related to medicine also may be considered.
John L. Montgomery History of Medicine Research Fellowship
The John L. Montgomery History of Medicine Research Fellowship for $1,500.00 is given to a fourth year student for research in history of medicine in London.
Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation
The prestigious award is given to recognize one graduating medical student and one faculty member for exemplifying outstanding humanism in medicine by their compassion and sensitivity in the delivery of care to patients and their families. Each of the winners will be recognized at the senior awards ceremony, receive a cash award of $1,000.00 and have their name engraved on a plaque provided by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation of New Jersey. The Department of Humanities in Medicine administers the award process.
