James A. Knight Award for Leadership in Medicine

Dr. James A. Knight was the founding dean of the College of Medicine. This $500.00 award is in honor of Dr. Knight whose life as a physician and medical educator modeled the highest standards of compassion and dedication to medicine. Dr. Knight strongly believed the future of medicine is dependent on the physician's capacity to blend the scientific and humanistic aspects of medical practice.

This award recognizes excellence in leadership in medicine, typically as manifested by outstanding performance in two or more of the following: the first-year Leadership in medicine (LIM) course, a second-year LIM mentorship, or a fourth-year LIM fellowship. Other evidence of leadership as related to medicine also may be considered.
