Third Year of Medical School

Third year medical students, heavily involved in clinical courses, participate in a leadership workshop during their rotation in the Department of Surgery. This two hour workshop lead by clinical faculty focuses on why a physician cannot avoid leadership responsibilities and the types of leadership situations most likely to be encountered: in the doctor-patient relationship, in professional relationships and organizations, and in the community. The emphasis in this workshop is on situational leadership.
