Required Courses
In the past, the department offered two courses for medical students, a general pathology course and a systemic pathology course, which ran for the entire second year. The medical school curriculum is in process of revision. A first step was the recent abolition of all discipline-based courses in the second year and their replacement by integrated teaching blocks that include material from many different disciplines. The next step will be a further level of integration that will extend the pathology material over a longer time span, approximately the last half of the first year plus the entire second year (Phase 2). In these integrated phases and blocks, grades are given for the teaching blocks as a whole, not for any of the component disciplines.
The department offers a two or a four-week elective experience in pathology for fourth year students. This elective is conducted at the main teaching hospital and clinic and offers a rotation through several different portions of the pathology department. A complete listing of pathology fourth year elective courses is available online.
Graduate Student Courses
At this time no graduate student courses are offered in pathology.
