Medical Students

Third year medical students from Texas A&M College of Medicine have a six-week rotation within the Department of Psychiatry. Fourth year students also participate in a two-week substance abuse rotation, which is required for graduation.

Additionally, fourth year students may take electives in the Psychiatry Department. We also encourage fourth year medical students from other medical schools to take advantage of rotation at Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Clinic.

Third and fourth year medical students are also invited to come to the Ethics Meetings (which usually include a thought provoking movie, dinner and discussion). Students get to see residents and faculty in a setting other than clinical practice and one in which there is very lively discussion.

Medical students are also invited to participate in medicolegal aspects of psychiatric practice such as court hearings at Bell County Court-At-Law.
