Strategic Plan
In January 2011, the College of Medicine began a significant strategic planning initiative. With the help of the entire College of Medicine community, Dean Sam Shomaker has developed a single page that includes goals and aspirations that everyone in the organization can read, understand and relate to.
The College of Medicine is intent on creating and maintaining a Culture of Excellence. Achievement of plan initiatives will create momentum to achievement of excellence.
The College of Medicine Five Key Planning Pillars are:
- Teaching and Learning (PDF) In all that we do, we endeavor to become the best medical school in Texas.
- Primary Care and Rural Medicine (PDF) We train the workforce Texas needs.
- Diversity (PDF) We train a workforce that mirrors the population it serves.
- Interdisciplinary Research (PDF) We foster partnerships that create a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
- Financial Stability and Diversity (PDF) We diversify revenue and manage expenses to maximize the benefit to our constituents.
