How to Apply
The School of Graduate Studies Biomedical Science program administered through the College of Medicine is focused primarily on training Ph.D. students. Applications for the fall semester are requested by January 15, for full consideration for stipend support, but will be considered until May 31st. A four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited university is required. Students applying to a graduate program should have a strong undergraduate background in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, mathematics, and/or molecular biology.Three strong letters of recommendation indicating academic excellence, personal maturity, and exceptional motivation as well as interest in the experimental sciences are an important part of the application. The GRE general test scores are required for master's and doctoral programs.
Required courses vary with the individual program. Applicants for the M.S. degree will not usually be considered for stipend support from the program, so M.S. applicants must have independent support or have an identified faculty sponsor who will provide the stipend. M.S. applicants must submit a letter from the sponsor letter as part of their application materials, and the letter should indicate that the sponsor will provide training and stipend support if applicable.
Please note that for the 2011-2012 academic year there will be no processing fee for domestic applicants.
International students should have a >450 V GRE score or submit a TOEFL SCORE.
