Director's Welcome
It is my privilege to serve as the director of the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency. Since its inception in 1996, the Family Medicine Residency, previously known as the Brazos Family Medicine Residency, has been committed to training residents for a broad scope of practice that would prepare them to practice in urban, suburban, and rural settings, or to consider a career in academic family medicine. We committed to establishing our residency as the premier family medicine program in the country. As the program director, I am determined to set a course that continues to support this vision, and which fosters an atmosphere of excellence in medical training. One that is broad in scope of practice, deep in the principles of quality care, and seated in the requirement of teaching the importance of compassionate patient care. Because of our commitment to create this center of excellence in family medicine, we offer extensive training opportunities in rural settings, international rotations, sports medicine, geriatric care, and advanced obstetrics, among others.
Three years of residency training is a brief time for is to impart these values upon those who elect to study and train with us. We will strive to nurture you and help you refine your clinical skills while challenging you to develop your abilities as you grow with us in our learning organization.
Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency is an innovative, exciting place to train. We encourage your inquiries, welcome your visit, and hope to have you join our team.
Sincerely,
David A. McClellan, M.D.
