Graduate Studies

Welcome to the TAMHSC College of Medicine's Office of Graduate Studies (OGS). Since the establishment of the first medical sciences graduate program in the mid 1980's, we have provided outstanding research training for our graduate students through our Ph.D. in Medical Science. Our faculty also participate in several interdisciplinary graduate programs, including Genetics, Neuroscience and Toxicology, as well as the recently established M.S. in Education for Healthcare Professionals (EDHP).

Important features of our College of Medicine based Medical Science Ph.D. include:

  • Multiple campuses (Bryan/College Station, Temple, Houston, and Dallas) with distinct research strengths
  • A flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum with seven focus tracks that allows our students to have a highly personalized and individually tailored training program
  • Being a part of Texas A&M University (TAMU), a Tier 1 research university, our students have the opportunity to take courses at TAMU and to choose TAMU laboratories for their dissertation research, thereby greatly expanding the research options and providing access to scientific areas not typically seen in medical schools (e.g. veterinary medicine, chemistry and engineering)
  • An average time to graduation of just over 5 years, which is considerably below the national average of 6.5 years
