Leibowitz Appointed Interim Head for Pathology Department

Skip breadcrumb navigation COLLEGE STATION, Texas (June 1, 2005)– Julian Leibowitz, M.D./Ph.D. has been appointed the Interim Head for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department by College of Medicine dean, Dr. Christopher C. Colenda, effective June 1, 2005. Dr. Liebowitz will be replacing Dr. George E. Davis, who served the in the role since 2003 and is stepping down.

Dr. Leibowitz came to Texas A&M University and the College of Medicine in 1995. He has a bachelor’s degree from Alfred University (1968) and an M.D./Ph.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1975).

Dr. Leibowitz is currently a professor in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department, as well as the director of the college’s M.D./Ph.D. program. He also serves on the Center for Microencapsulation and Drug Delivery faculty and is a professor in the Veterinary Pathobiology Department at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine.

“I am grateful to Dr. Davis for his leadership over the past two years, and have come to appreciate his many talents,” Dr. Colenda said. “I have the utmost faith in Dr. Leibowitz’s ability to lead the Pathology Department and I look forward to his guidance, especially during the college’s basic science realignment process.”

The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department has nine faculty members, whose research interests include molecular carcinogenesis, molecular virology, angiogenesis, tumor development and progression, neuronal signaling, neuropathology and apoptosis.
