Castro Receives College of Medicine Associate Dean Appointment

Skip breadcrumb navigation COLLEGE STATION, Texas (June 6, 2005)– Juan Castro, M.D., M.B.A., Director of the Coastal Bend Education Center and Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine has been appointed the Associate Dean for Coastal Bend Affairs in the College of Medicine.

Dr. Castro has been instrumental in developing a rural family medicine clerkship in Beeville, as well as facilitating educational opportunities with the Driscoll Children’s Hospital and the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. Dr. Castro replaces Dr. William Riley, who was the Associate Dean for the College in Corpus Christi. Dr. Riley has taken a position at the Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio.

In addition to his role as Director of the Coastal Bend Educational Center, Dr. Castro will be responsible for educational program development and implementation and oversight in quality assurance of undergraduate medical education programs for the college in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend. Dr. Castro will also provide liaison to regional universities and health systems that may wish to partner with the college on research and educational activities.
