Colenda Testifies Before U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging

Skip breadcrumb navigation WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 14, 2006) – College of Medicine Dean Christopher C. Colenda, M.D., M.P.H. testified before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging today on the issues of depression and suicide among older Americans.

Senator Gordon Smith (R-Oregon), Chair of the Senate Aging Committee, requested that Dr. Colenda speak during Suicide Awareness Week, as the Committee is focusing on geriatric suicide. Dr. Colenda was chosen to speak because of his expertise in the subjects as a geriatric psychiatrist, as well as his position as a medical school dean and the president of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
