Four COM Faculty Named Emeritus Professors

Skip breadcrumb navigation COLLEGE STATION, Texas (April 16, 2007) – Four retired faculty members from the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine were named Emeritus Professors by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents on March 30, 2007.

Walter P. Dyck, M.D. was named Emeritus Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Dyck retired last March after serving Scott & White for 38 years and holding the role of Executive Associate Dean of the College of Medicine for 10 years.

J. Benjamin Green III, M.D. was also named Emeritus Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Green was on staff at Scott & White since 1973, and retired this spring. He still continues to serve at the College of Medicine as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and Director of the Office of Educational Development.

Robert E. Myers, M.D. was awarded Professor Emeritus status in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Myers joined the faculty in 1977 and served as department head from 1979 to 1985. He was given the title of full professor in 1981 and retired from the college and Scott & White in 1998.

Elvin E. Smith, Ph.D. was named Professor Emeritus in the Department of Systems Biology and Translational Medicine. A longtime administrator and faculty member, Dr. Smith served the college as associate dean, acting and interim dean during his tenure from 1975 to 2002.
