COM Hosts 3rd Annual Magnolia Tea

Skip breadcrumb navigation COLLEGE STATION, Texas (April 30, 2007) – The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine is hosting the 3rd annual Magnolia Tea Thursday, May 3 at 2 p.m. A social and educational event, the Magnolia Tea draws women of all ages together from the Bryan-College Station area.

Started in 2005 to highlight women’s research initiatives at College of Medicine and provide a venue for sharing up-to-date information gained from this research, the 2007 Magnolia Tea will be hosted at the Reveille Inn at 4400 Old College Road in Bryan.

This year’s speaker is David E. Dostal, Ph.D., associate professor of internal medicine at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Dr. Dostal will discuss “The Truth About Heart Disease in Women.” A member of the American Heart Association and International Society for Heart Disease, he is a prolific researcher, having been extensively published and teaching for more than 20 years. Dr. Dostal earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Developmental Biology from the University of South Dakota, a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and completed four years of postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia.

Christopher C. Colenda, M.D., M.P.H., Jean and Thomas McMullin Dean of the College of Medicne, will provide opening remarks. Tom Pool, HSC-COM director of Institutional Advancement, is emcee.
