5th Annual Mini-Medical School Kicks Off January 22
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (January 15, 2008) -- The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine is hosting the 2009 Mini-Medical School this spring for Bryan-College Station residents interested in learning current, relevant medical information from some of the college's leading experts. All sessions will be held at 6 p.m. starting Thursday, January 22 and continuing every Thursday evening for six weeks, concluding on February 26. Lectures will take place in Lecture Hall 1 of the Joe H. Reynolds Medical Building, located on the Texas A&M University West Campus.
The purpose of the fifth annual Mini-Medical School, planned for six consecutive Thursday nights in January and February, is to educate community members on current health and wellness topics of interest to local residents of all ages. It also familiarizes students with medical terminology, enhances their knowledge of medicine and provides new insights into medical research.
All lectures are given by College of Medicine faculty members and will run approximately an hour, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session. Topics include interventional pain management, lung infections, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, arthritis, fatty liver disease, and viruses and cancer.
Parking is available in Lot 72 in front of the Reynolds Medical Building for $1, and refreshments will be provided.
