Nido to Helm COM’s Medical Services, Research and Development Plan as Exec Director

(COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS) — Edward J. Sherwood, M.D., Interim Dean of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, announces the appointment of Philip M. Nido, MBA, as Executive Director for the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine Medical Services, Research and Development Plan (MSRDP). Nido began his new role on Monday, November 9, 2009, and brings with him significant health care administration experience from both academic and private medical institutions.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Nido earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1978 and his Masters of Business Administration in 1987 from Cleveland State University. He has served academic medical institutions and medical groups for 17 years with experience in nephrology, oncology, hematology, pediatrics, endocrinology, gastroenterology, diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine. Nido has also worked in a kidney dialysis center, a cardiac catheterization lab, and other medical environments.

As executive director of the MSRDP, Nido will oversee the physician practices of the College of Medicine in an effort to advance the level of care in the Bryan and Houston communities.

Nido follows John Lewis who served as interim executive director during the initial phase of the MSRDP. Lewis has returned to his position as Director of Program Finance and Administration within the Family Medicine Residency Program.
