As Associate Dean for Development, Dr. Avery oversees development, stewardship, community outreach and fundraising initiatives for the College of Medicine. Dr. Avery began his new role on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 and is based out of the Round Rock campus.

Dr. Avery earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 and his M.D. with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston in 1973. He then went on to complete an internship and residency in internal medicine at UTMB’s John Sealy Hospital from 1973-1976. From 1989-1990, Dr. Avery completed a 200-hour CME program in occupational and environmental medicine with the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. In 1997 he received the Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumnus Award from the UTMB School of Medicine.

Dr. Avery previously served UTMB as a Clinical Associate Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the Division of Clinical Preventative Medicine. Additionally, he served as Director of Occupational and Environmental Health Services, Director of the Occupational Medicine Residency Program and Director of the General Preventative Medicine Residency Program. From 2003-2009, he was also the Chairman of the UTMB Admissions Committee.

Dr. Avery is board certified in internal medicine and occupational medicine and holds a subspecialty certification in medical toxicology. He has served as a consultant in medical toxicology and occupational medicine to companies including Motorola, Samsung and Texas Mutual Insurance Company.

Dr. Avery, who also holds a joint faculty appointment with the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health, will continue to serve as the Director of the Preventative Medicine Residency Program and as a Professor of Instructional Administration in the College of Medicine.


Andrew N. Robison

Andrew Robison, Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2004, joined the College of Medicine as Director for Development in October 2011.  In this role Andrew coordinates overall management of all individual, corporate and foundation fundraising for the College of Medicine.  He most enjoys meeting new people and finding ways to match their philanthropic goals with the current and future plans of the College of Medicine.

Prior to joining the college, Andrew worked as the Director of Development at the St. Thomas More Newman Center in Columbus, Ohio and as the Assistant Director of Development for St. Mary's Catholic Center in College Station.  Andrew earned a BA in History from Texas A&M University in 2004 and a MA in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary's University in Minnesota in 2008.  Andrew, his wife Cheryl '05 and daughter Annabel '32 are thrilled to return to Aggieland and currently reside in College Station.

Brenda Long joined the College of Medicine Dean’s Office in July 2004.  Prior to joining the college, Brenda worked at the San Jacinto College Foundation in Pasadena as the scholarship administrator, grant writer and fiscal administrator for three grants, as well as college representative on the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and North Shore Rotary.

In her current role as Community Relations Coordinator, Brenda is responsible for donor and alumni relations, gift processing and donor stewardship, special events for the college and community outreach projects.  She is a member of International Special Event Society and the Dean’s Assistants Group for the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Rosanne L. Gueguen joined the College of Medicine as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Institutional Advancement, February 2, 2009. Prior to joining the college, Rosanne worked in the Office of the Commandant at the Sanders Corps of Cadets Center as an Event Coordinator, Administrator of the Brick Plaza Campaign and oversaw the operations of the Military Library within the Corps Center Museum. She is a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Lindsey Bacon Bertrand joined the College of Medicine as the Communications Coordinator in July 2009. In this role she writes and edits print and electronic publications, writes media releases and coordinates the internal and external communications of the College of Medicine. Prior to joining the college, Lindsey served as the Communications Coordinator in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Texas at Dallas and as a Communications Specialist for the Texas A&M University Office of Admissions and Records.

Lindsey graduated from the University of North Texas in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in marketing. Since then she has written and worked for a local television station, a book publishing house and a creative design company.

 


Dhwani D. Chauhan

Dhwani D. Chauhan joined the College of Medicine as the Webmaster on September 1, 2010. In this role she works in collaboration with other representatives of the college to develop the website contents. She monitors, manages, develops and assures the day-to-day ongoing maintenance of the college website and its contents.

Dhwani completed her four year Bachelor of Engineering degree in Information Technology from India in 2007. She joined Sam Houston State University in 2008 for her Masters in Computer Science. Prior to joining the college, Dhwani worked as a Webmaster and Operation Technician at Sam Houston State University from 2008 to 2010, along with her graduate coursework.
