home > introduction Introduction
FacultyOur faculty includes a diverse group of clinician and basic science researchers, providing our residents with a wide variety of perspectives on mental illness and mental health. Each faculty member is committed to delivering a quality training experience to each resident. Philosophy and Goals for Psychiatry ResidencyResidents in this program are chosen because they demonstrate achievement, curiosity and compatibility with other residents. We have found that each of these factors is important in identifying residents that have the potential to grow throughout their residency into fully competent psychiatrists. Because importance is placed on compatibility with other residents, residents feel that they become a part of our residency family. We expect the members of 'our family' to be competent, compassionate and driven by a passion to learn about the field of Psychiatry so that they can provide the highest quality of patient care that is possible. If that description characterizes you, you may be a good match for our program. Research EmphasisOur Psychiatry department believes in the value of the Scientist-Professional
model for training residents. Mentors and opportunities for research
exist in the clinical and basic science areas. The rich clinical opportunity
combined with the research and teaching emphasis of Texas A&M University
System, Scott & White Clinic and the Central Texas Veterans HCS make
this training model a dynamic reality.
