NIH Year-Off Training Program for Medical Students
This is another year-off research opportunity at the National Institutes of Health. It is designed for medical or graduate students of any level, and provides funding for research on any available topic at the NIH in Bethesda, MD or at off-campus NIH locations located in Frederick, MD, Hamilton, MT, Research Triangle, NC and Phoenix, AZ. If accepted, fellows are responsible for securing their own housing. There is no application deadline, and applicants do not need to identify a mentor/project ahead of time. An institute (there are 26 institutes at the NIH) of interest is selected on the application and that institute receives your online application. After selection by the institute, fellows then choose a mentor/project. Funding depends upon the location of the research and the number of post-baccalaureate years of education.
