Roque Ruggero, M.D., F.A.A.E.M.
Dr. Ruggero received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX in 1997 and completed his emergency medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York in 2000 (where he also served as chief resident). Dr. Ruggero has been a practicing emergency physician with Capitol Emergency Associates staffing St. David’s facilities since 2000. He has a special interest in pediatric emergency medicine and has additionally worked at St. David's NAMC Children's ED since it opened in December 2014. He is a member of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the Texas Medical Association, and the Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Ruggero is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
In addition to his work as the Director of the Emergency Medicine clerkship, he is also the Round Rock Director for Interprofessional Education and Clinical Simulations. He strongly believes in the team model of delivery of healthcare for optimum patient outcomes. In addition to his interest Dr. Ruggero is actively involved in integration of bedside ultrasound into the medical curriculum. He has a strong interest in wilderness medicine and is the director of a wilderness medicine elective. Dr. Ruggero also participates in global health projects including Project SEMILLA in Nicaragua that strives to improve emergency healthcare capacity through education partnerships with local healthcare groups. Dr. Ruggero enjoys being a part of the Lake Travis Learning Community student group. He also participates in the clinical orientations incoming students receive at our Round Rock campus.

Dr. Goode received his medical degree from University of Texas- Houston Medical School in 1994, and completed his residency in 1997 with Memorial Family Practice Residency Program, an affiliate of the University of Texas-Houston Medical School. Dr. Goode is board certified in Family Medicine and established the Brushy Creek Family Physicians, P.A. with other physician partners in 1997.
Dr. Goode belongs to the Travis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Esparza received her medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2000 and completed her residency at Corpus Christi Family Practice in 2003. She is board certified in Family Medicine, and is now serving as assistant clerkship director in Family Medicine.

Intensive & Critical Care
Harold D. Cain, M.D.
Dr. Harold D. Cain has been practicing Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in Austin for 37 years. A native Texan, he completed undergraduate school at Texas Tech University and medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, internship and residency in North Carolina at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Cain also provides occupational lung disease evaluations and is a certified B-Reader for pneumoconioses (occupational dust-related lung diseases). In addition, he has been involved in the diagnosis and management of sleep related respiratory diseases for many years. Dr. Cain is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Lux received his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 1988. He is Vice President and Co-Founder of Central Texas Hospitalists and currently serves as Hospitalist at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center and Medical Director of Hospice Compassus. Dr. Lux is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Medical Subspecialties and the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is the director of the Internal Medicine clerkship on the Round Rock campus.
Dr. Rajan graduated from Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine and completed her residency at Cornell Weill Medical Center in New York. After residency, she worked and studied at Columbia University as a Hospitalist while she completed a master’s degree in biostatistics with a thesis on patients with heart failure and a normal ejection fraction. She began the hospitalist program at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut in 2004 and remained their director until coming to Texas in 2007 to join Scott and White as their Chief Medical Officer for the Continuing Care Hospital. Currently, she is an editor at Hearst Health, MCG and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Texas A&M. She is the assistant director of the Internal Medicine clerkship on the Round Rock campus.

Obstetrics & Gynecology
Dr. Brown received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1998 and, in 2002, completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Dr. Brown was Chief of the Obstetrics and Gynecology and co-chair of the Perinatal Safety Committee at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock in 2008. He maintains a position as reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology. His honors include recognition among the top 10% of all reviewers for the publication in 2007. He is also on the editorial advisory board for the national publications, Pharmacist’s Letter and Prescriber’s Letter.
Dr. Brown is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Helmcamp received her medical degree from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX in 2001 and completed residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX in 2005. She stayed at UTHSC in Houston for a fellowship in Academic Pediatrics while at the same time obtaining a Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health in 2007. Dr. Helmcamp is board certified in pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been an outpatient pediatrician at Baylor Scott & White Health in Round Rock since 2008. She is now serving as assistant clerkship director for Pediatrics.
Victor M. Garza, M.D.
Dr. Victor Garza, a Houston native and first generation college graduate, received his Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from Rice University and went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Garza is certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His previous work includes inpatient consultation-liaison and outpatient care at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System in Chicago. He’s provided outpatient psychiatric consultation and clinical care at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System’s Austin Outpatient Clinic within their integrated primary care-mental health program. Dr. Garza currently provides telehealth psychiatric services to community mental health centers in the State of Texas.

Dr. Lewis graduated with Honors from the University of Texas, Arlington and went to medical school at the University of Texas, Southwestern, in Dallas. He did his surgical residency and training at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Lewis is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Lewis began practice in the Round Rock area in 2000.
