The Director of the Scott & White/TAMHSC Center for Cell Death and Differentiation, Dr. M. Karen Newell Rogers, was nominated as one of the 28 protégé innovators of the year 2011 during the 8th annual conference of The Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas (TAMEST) in Austin, Texas. Dr. Newell Rogers proudly represented Texas A&M among Texas leaders in medicine, science, engineering and technology.

In November 2014, our CCDD format was expanded geographically as we held the first offsite symposium, "At a Turning Point: Novel Therapeutic Developments in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Research" in Miami, Florida. The second annual Turning Point meeting is scheduled for November 17-18, 2015, in Bandera, Texas, in advance of the annual Society for Neuro-Oncology meeting in San Antonio.
