By the time of enrollment in medical school, E2M students must fulfill the following:

  • Satisfy the College of Medicine’s undergraduate course requirements:
    • B grade or higher
    • 47 semester hours
  • Earn a cumulative 3.5 OGPA and 3.5 BCPM GPA (biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics)
  • Score at least a 509 total MCAT score (82nd percentile) with not less than a 126 in each of the subsections.
    • One retake of the MCAT is allowed if the minimum scores are not achieved on the first attempt
  • Complete a non-credit seminar course specifically designed to uncover:
    • the intricacies of the medical school application and interview processes
    • medical school curriculum
    • issues that describe medicine as a practice and a career
  • Participate in advising activities:
    • advising sessions with the College of Medicine’s Admissions Office
    • mentoring sessions with College of Medicine engineering medical students
    • MCAT preparation
  • Research through the 10-week College of Medicine Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
  • Gain clinical experience:
    • shadowing, volunteering or employment in a hospital or private clinical practice
    • at least five to 10 hours per month for three years or minimum of 60 hours per year
  • Perform community service:
    • participate in non-healthcare community service
    • at least five to 10 hours per month for three years or minimum average of 60 hours per year
  • Complete the engineering degree plan as prescribed and within the standard acceptable time frame
  • Complete all coursework toward degree at Texas A&M University
  • Commit solely to the Texas A&M College of Medicine
