E2M Engineering to Medicine Early Admissions Program

About the Program

The E2M Program is created for outstanding Texas A&M University College of Engineering students who are interested in obtaining a medical degree with the Texas A&M College of Medicine, ultimately pursuing a career as a physician or physician scientist.

If accepted, students will be granted guaranteed acceptance into the College of Medicine upon completion of their undergraduate degree with the College of Engineering. Additionally, the E2M program will guide candidates through a joint learning path designed to expand and enhance the educational process during their academic years at Texas A&M University and prepare them for entry into the College of Medicine.

E2M Program Options

  • Option A: Before entry into TAMU (Incoming Freshman Texas A&M Student)

    Eligibility and Selection Criteria

    The program will select at least 5 students per year from a pool of National Merit Scholars, National Hispanic Scholars and/or National Achievement Scholars who are seeking enrollment to Texas A&M University and a degree from the College of Science.

    • The application period will close on January 15 of any given year
    • Screen only those applicants who have expressed interest in medicine as a career; are U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (preference will be given to Texas residents) and have achieved
      • A minimum cumulative High School Overall GPA of 3.50.
      • Rank in the top 10% of graduating class
      • Score a minimum 1300 SAT (Verbal/Math) or 30 ACT
    • The second round of reviews will require interviews of the candidates meeting the above criteria and factor into deliberation the following important attributes: ability to communicate and interact, capacity for improvement, service orientation, motivation for medicine as a career, and maturity, stability and tolerance. Interviews may occur in early February.
    • The selection of students will be a joint process including faculty of the TAMU College of Medicine Admissions Committee and the TAMU College of Science.
  • Option B: After one year of TAMU college coursework (Current Texas A&M Student)

    Eligibility and Selection Criteria

    The program will select up to 5 students per year from a pool of College of Science degree seeking students after their first year at Texas A&M University.

    • The application period will open on September 1 and closes on October 1 of each year.
    • Screen only those applicants who have expressed interest in medicine as a career; are U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (preference will be given to Texas residents); and have achieved
      • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 at the end of the first year of attendance at TAMU (or 24 credit hours).
    • The second round of reviews will require interviews of the candidates meeting the above criteria and will factor into deliberation the following important attributes: ability to communicate and interact, capacity for improvement, service orientation, motivation for medicine as a career, and maturity, stability and tolerance. Interviews may occur in mid-August.
    • The selection of students will be a joint process including faculty of the TAMU College of Medicine Admissions Committee and the TAMU College of Science.
    • Transfer student are ineligible.
