Faculty appointees at the associate professor/professor ranks are required to either prepare a CV utilizing the Guidelines for Preparing Curriculum Vita for Initial Faculty Appointment or utilize the TAMHSC COM Faculty Record. Either of these two approaches will assist the AP&T Committee in accurately evaluating faculty appointees at the associate professor/professor ranks (principal and non-principal); i.e., allow for the committee to determine excellent or exceptional performance in the academic areas of teaching and/or research as well as determining a regional, national or international reputation.

  1. The first approach is to submit improved CVs. See document entitled Guidelines for Preparing Curriculum Vita for Initial Faculty Appointment. The purpose of this document is to provide appointees with guidance in preparing CVs that contain the information the committee uses in its decision-making process.
  2. An alternative approach is to utilize the HSC Faculty Record. The advantages to this approach are familiarization of faculty members with the criteria for advancement in the College of Medicine, and once completed, the Faculty Record can be revised for purposes of mid-term review, promotion and post-tenure review. The disadvantages are that the form is complex, and not all domains pertain to all faculty members.
