Karen J. Wakefield, PhD, RN
Karen J. Wakefield, PhD, RN. is an assistant professor in the Department of Humanities in Medicine at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. She received her doctorial and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Baccalaureate in Nursing degree from Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Wakefield is currently the course director of the Humanities in Medicine HEAL IV Capstone course. In addition, she served as the assistant editor of the Annals of Behavioral Science and Medical Education journal and is currently the faculty editor of the Texas A&M College of Medicine Synapse newsletter. As a registered nurse, Dr. Wakefield has experience as a hospice nurse coordinator and in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
